Working Principle of Drum Wood Chipper

Working Principle

Drum wood chipper works mainly on the cutting and centrifugal principle. The wood enters from the feeding port and is pressed by the feeding roller on the rotating drum. The blades on the circumference of the drum wheel rotate at high speed, generating a strong cutting force to cut the wood into wood chips. At the same time, the centrifugal force generated by the rotation causes the wood chips to be thrown out from the discharge port around the drum wheel, realizing the efficient conversion of wood to wood chips.

Application Scenarios of Drum wood chipping machine

Application Scenarios

Paper industry

In paper mills, drum chippers cut logs into uniform chips to aid chemical penetration, provide quality material for pulping, ensure paper quality, and accommodate large-scale production.

Manufacture of artificial boards

Precise cutting of logs, shavings and flakes, strict control of specifications, through a series of processes to make high-quality panels to meet the needs of furniture and decorative materials.

Biomass Pellet Manufacturing

In biomass pellet plants, industrial shredders efficiently process tree branches, templates, wood trimmings, etc. to provide raw materials for biomass pellet plants.

Wood processing enterprises

Cutting the trimmings into wood chips for the production of wood-plastic composites or as filler material for other wood products, to achieve the recycling of resources.

Frequently Asked Questions.

This wood chipping machine can handle logs, branches, trunks, boards, pallets, shredded edges and other wood materials. Some models support the handling of high moisture and hard woods.

Yes. The size of the pieces can be controlled by changing to a different size screen or adjusting the setting of the cutting blades, usually between 1-5 cm.

Chipping machines can process small amounts of bark, leaves and other impurities, but it is not recommended to process wood that contains metal or large stones that could damage the blades or internal components.

Blade wear depends on the frequency of use and the hardness of the wood. It is usually recommended to check the blades every 100 hours of operation and sharpen or replace the blades if necessary.

Yes, the hydraulic feeding device can automatically adjust the feeding speed, supporting the simultaneous processing of different diameters and lengths of wood.
