Piston Sawdust Briquetting Machine
Efficient Biomass Compression Solution

Piston Sawdust Briquetting Machine Overview
The Piston Sawdust Briquetting Machine is an advanced biomass processing equipment designed to compress sawdust, wood chips, rice husks, straw and other organic materials into dense, high-strength briquettes. The equipment uses a piston-driven mechanical system to convert loose biomass into extremely dense uniform briquettes, which are ideal for use as biomass fuel or industrial feedstock.

Features and Advantages of Ring Die Briquetting Machine
Features and Advantages
Powerful Mechanical Power
The piston mechanism can generate up to 180 MPa of pressure, forming high-hardness, efficient-burning briquettes and minimizing breakage during transportation.
Adjustable Compression Ratio
The piston stroke and pressure settings can be customized for different materials (from soft sawdust to hard wood chips) to ensure the best briquetting effect.
Optimized Mechanical Power
The piston design can reduce energy consumption by 30% compared with traditional hydraulic presses, and the electrical energy efficiency can reach 6-8 kWh per ton of briquettes.
Continuous Production
The high-speed piston reciprocating motion can achieve a production capacity of 400-2500 kg/hour, which can meet the needs of small farms and large industries.
High-strength Structure
The main frame and piston components are made of hardened alloy steel to ensure wear resistance. The service life of key components exceeds 12,000 hours.
Energy saving and environmental protection
The mechanical structure adopts fewer moving parts, reducing maintenance work such as lubrication and replacement of parts.

Working Principle oPiston Biomass Briquette Press
Working Principle
- Feeding: Pre-crushed biomass (sawdust, wood shavings) is fed into the hopper with a moisture content of ≤12% and then transported to the pelletizing chamber through a screw feeder.
- Piston compression: The motor drives the crankshaft to reciprocate the piston. As the piston moves forward, it applies high pressure to the material and pushes it into the mold cavity.
- Forming and ejection: The compressed material forms a dense mass in the mold. When the piston retracts, the mass is ejected by the push rod mechanism.
- Discharging: The formed mass is transported out for cooling and storage before being used as fuel or other purposes.
Application Scenarios of Piston Sawdust Briquetting Machine
Application Scenarios
Fuel Briquettes
Suitable for heating systems, power plants and industrial boilers. High-density briquettes have a calorific value of 3800 - 4800 kcal/kg and can replace coal.
Home Cooking Fuel
In rural areas, briquettes are a clean and efficient alternative to firewood, improving indoor air quality and reducing deforestation.
Packaging Materials
Bricks made from wood waste replace plastic foam as an environmentally friendly cushioning material to meet the needs of sustainable packaging.
Waste Recycling
Convert sawmill by-products, agricultural waste and wood processing waste into valuable briquettes, achieving a 90% waste recycling rate.
Successful Cases of Piston Briquetting Machine
Successful Cases

Swedish biomass fuel plant
The plant uses an HXPB-800 briquetting machine to process 20 tons of sawdust into briquettes every day, meeting 25% of the local heating needs.

Brazilian heating company
Using HXPB-1500 briquetting machine to convert wood chips into briquettes for boiler fuel, it reduces the cost by 20% compared to coal and reduces the emission of harmful substances.

German waste recycling company
Mixed wood chips sorted from garbage are processed by HXPB-3500 pelletizing machine to produce 30 tons of fuel pellets per day.
Frequently Asked Questions.
The ideal moisture is 12% – 18%. Higher moisture may cause briquettes to crack, while lower moisture reduces compressibility. Pre – drying is recommended for wet materials.
Yes. It efficiently processes rice husks, straw, peanut shells, and coconut fibers, provided they are crushed to < 10 mm.
Regular lubrication (every 200 hours) and wear part inspections (piston rings, seals) are recommended. Piston components typically last 6000 – 8000 hours before replacement.
Briquettes from the piston press have a crush strength of ≥ 400 N, ensuring minimal breakage during handling and shipping.
Yes. We offer custom mold sizes, feeding systems, and automation upgrades (e.g., integrated drying units) to meet specific production requirements.
